Welcome

We are at the start of the summer break. Schools have broken up and many folk will be off on holiday.
It is a time to rest and recharge the batteries but it's also an exciting time.

If all goes to plan we may well see the linkage with Clincarthill going ahead in September. It is amazing that we are at this stage and it has taken a lot of meetings and hours of discussions. Thanks are due to Donald. The little details are still to be finalised but it is looking very positive.
Presbytery approved the linkage at their last meeting and there was a contingent from both Maxwell and Clincarthill.

Although Castle Cafe is taking a summer break, Clincarthill have invited us to their Garden Cafe starting this Monday and every Monday during July. Details below.

If you are around the halls during the week please keep an eye out as we are trying to support our neighbours who are often pestered by youngsters playing in the woods above their properties.

Blythswood Care

blythswood new
There have been changes at Blythswood Care HQ
You can see the new logo here but the work remains the same.

Kirsteen has made some lovely cards.
Janette has made the marmalade and I have made various jams and chutney's.
You can find them at the back of the church

There is also a box where donations of toiletries, clothes, etc. may be left.

The shoebox filling and checking continues on a monthly basis and we are blessed by the support of our congregation and others, Thanks to all who pray for this work.
If you would like further information just speak to Lesley or me - Denise.

Changes to the Ground Floor of the Halls

A group of folk have been working very hard around the halls. The old nursery toys have been passed on, the shelving in the Dorothy Lloyd room has been reallocated to the garage, cupboards have been sorted out and lots of other things too numerous to put here in detail.
We will need to freshen up several areas with a new coat of paint as in places it looks very worn.
Sandy has worked with a group over a number of days resulting in a detailed plan.
You can follow the link below to see some of what's been going on.

Clincarthill Garden Cafe is running each Monday starting this Monday 29 June until the end of July.

It will be open on Mondays throughout July from 10 am until 1 pm.

The gardens are lovely and home baking is a special treat.

It's a great way to get to know members of our linked Church family and to strengthen relationships.

Everyone is welcome so please go along and enjoy the chat and a cuppa.

Ian Dale

Thank you to all my friends at Maxwell Mearns Castle Church for the church flowers, lovely cards and messages received during the time of Ian Dale passing. It was a blessing to receive so much love and so many prayers during this sad time. It was very comforting to me and my family.
Thank you most sincerely,
Margaret Dale

Clothes Recycling Bin rag-bag cert 250626 (1)

Just a reminder about the clothes bin in the church car park.

It is not just clothes but towels, sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases, curtains, and pairs of shoes. There is a full list on the clothes-bank itself ,

We have just had a payment of 52 GBP.

If you have unwanted/worn out clothes they can benefit church finances.

Place the clothes in a carrier bag, tie it securely and place in the recycling bin.

It is emptied regularly and the church receives a bank transfer quarterly or whenever it is emptied.

If the clothes can be reused they are passed on but even worn out/ torn items have a value.

Charity shops really only use clothes that are in season but the recycling bin takes all clothes at all times.

PRAYER GROUP  praying-over-bible

The prayer group runs every fortnight and meets in the West Room and all will be welcome.
Details from Sandy L.

You may pray aloud or in silence.
"Where two or three gather in my name there am I with them" Matthew 18:20

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place."

Thank you all for your time and helping out with our rota, this is a cherished part of our church experience and it wouldn’t be possible without your contributions.

Also, a gentle reminder, if possible please bring your own cup! As we are really trying to become greener ~ thank you!

Thank you

Maxwell Pray Now Group

Pray Now is a WhatsApp group for Maxwell members
pray now
This group sends out occasional requests for prayer. In particular those which might be regarding things more acute or immediate. At present there are 17 of us who, when we receive a request for prayer, stop what we are doing and pray for whatever has been asked.

Are you on the Pray Now WhatsApp Group? If you want to be added to the group to receive prayer news then simply ask Denise and she will add your number to the list.

If you have a matter that you would like to be prayed about in this way, you can contact Denise and she will organise for news to be sent out.
