Welcome

The school summer holidays are nearly over and soon we'll be back into life at Maxwell as we move forward in our linkage with Cathcarthill. Meetings have continued behind the scenes and we are nearly ready to finalise the fine details.
A number of us managed to get over to Cathcarthill and enjoyed the fellowship of the Garden cafe on Mondays in July. The first time I went I got sunburnt but the second time we were in the hall because of the rain. Such are the joys of summers in Scotland.

We will be experiencing change as we welcome our new minister  The Ark and Titanicand we may be asked to step up so remember -
I Can Do All Things 2We will be starting up the Castle Cafe next month but if you are able to help organise Thursday afternoons it would be a big help .

Any comments or articles for next months magazine will be gratefully received.

Denise

Session Meetings

There will be a joint Session meeting at Clincarthill on Tuesday 12 August at 7.30 pm. to discuss the basis of linkage.

Our first Session meeting after the summer break will be held on Wednesday 10 September at 7.30 pm in the West Room.

Please note these dates and it would be good to see as many as possible.

Jesus the Evidence Jesus the Evidence

On Friday 12 September we are hosting an event called "Jesus the Evidence".

Handbills and posters have been printed as a way of publicising this to our neighbours.

We need to spread the word so the event reaches as many folk as possible.

Also needed are a team of people to cater for the attendees.

More information will be given over the next few weeks.

If you are able to help in any way please speak to Donald or contact the office.

Blythswood Care  blythswood new

Thank you to all the people who have left donations for the shoeboxes in the Blythswood Box at the back of the Sanctuary. Every single item is used.

Since last year we have met monthly to make up boxes for this year's appeal and your donations are already in boxes that just need the Christian literature before they are sealed.

Before we know it we will be checking boxes from all over Scotland, making sure they comply with customs regulations
Watch this space but it's usually just after the October break.

Kirsteen has made some lovely cards.
Janette has made the marmalade and I have made various jams and chutney's. There are a few jars of Gooseberry jam but it is a limited edition!

We are blessed by the support of our congregation and others, Thanks to all who pray for this work.
If you would like further information just speak to Lesley or me - Denise.

Castle Cafe Castle Cafe

The next meeting will be held on

Thursday 4th September at 2.30 pm. in the Maxwell Hall.

It's a great way to get to know members of our Church family and to strengthen relationships.

Everyone is welcome so please come along and enjoy the chat and a cuppa

Clothes Recycling Bin Clothes 1

Just a reminder about the clothes bin in the church car park.

If you have unwanted/worn out clothes they can benefit church finances.

It's not just clothes - towels and bedding (but NOT DUVETS or PILLOWS) are also great.

Place the items in a carrier bag, tie it securely and place in the recycling bin.

It is emptied regularly and the church receives a bank transfer quarterly.

If the clothes can be reused they are passed on but even worn out/ torn items have a value.

Charity shops really only use clothes that are in season but the recycling bin takes all clothes at all times.

PRAYER GROUP  praying-over-bible

The prayer group meet in the West Room and all will be welcome.

The group will next meet on Wednesday 13th August and then 27th August.

You may pray aloud or in silence.
"Where two or three gather in my name there am I with them" Matthew 18:20

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place."

Maxwell Pray Now Group

Pray Now is a WhatsApp group for Maxwell members
pray now
This group sends out occasional requests for prayer. In particular those which might be regarding things more acute or immediate. At present there are 17 of us who, when we receive a request for prayer, stop what we are doing and pray for whatever has been asked.

Are you on the Pray Now WhatsApp Group? If you want to be added to the group to receive prayer news then simply ask Denise and she will add your number to the list.

If you have a matter that you would like to be prayed about in this way, you can contact Denise and she will organise for news to be sent out.
